Meet the Makers!

I am incredibly passionate about the products I use in my treatments, as well as how they are made. In this blog I will introduce you to two of my favourite makers and why I use their products.

From a wellbeing perspective it is important to consider what we put onto our bodies as well as what we put into them. Dermal absorption is the process by which products or chemicals move from the outer surface of the skin into the deeper layers of the skin and potentially into our bloodstream. This means that care must be taken when selecting waxes, oils and creams for treatment since they can affect us through their use.

I also care about how products are made and the impact what I use has on the environment. This includes aspects like recycling, product miles and sustainable production methods.

Finally, as a small business myself I really want what I do to support other small business, rather than the corporate giants of this world.

For my main reflexology treatments I use products by Songbird Naturals

Originally the company started in New Zealand, and they now manufacture and supply from Somerset in the UK. All ingredients are natural and wherever possible are organic.  Products are not tested on animals and there is also a vegan range of products. Packaging is compostable or recyclable and they are working hard to continue this drive with their Ecotubs.

For finishing off my treatments with a gentle massage I use products by Sweet Bee Organics

This business, again based in Somerset, started from one product made at home and has grown from there. Wherever possible herbs are sourced locally to grow and support the immediate community - also keeping product miles low!

New for 2023! I am trialling some hand and foot balms from the White Horse Soap Company

This small, locally based Oxfordshire maker offers soaps, balms and skincare of natural origin. They are all handmade in small batches and are free from paragons, silicones, artificial colours and fragrance, with no palm or animal derivatives. I also like the fact that they have a good vegan range of products as well.

As well as these gorgeous products, I have a selection of other creams to cater for different skin types and specific requirements.
