With Valentine’s Day on the horizon and love in the air, February is a great time to dedicate to some self-care! Love doesn’t always have to be bestowed from one person to another, some self-love in the form of care can be just as beneficial.
Building on the actions taken in January to help keep the blues away, is a great way to establish regular self-care time. This means that caring for ourselves becomes a habit and part of our lives, rather than something done in times of crisis.
So, what exactly is self-care?
It is something we do to take care of ourselves, physically, mentally and emotionally. It can be anything that helps us to slow down, relax and recharge, so that we can feel our best.
Do whatever creates a pause in your day and makes your heart sing – there really are no rules!
Here are some ideas to get you started;
- Take a walk in the countryside, breathe deeply and listen to the bird song
- Read a book that you’ve been wanting to read for ages
- Do a relaxing exercise class like yoga
- Try some meditation
- Cuddle a pet
- Light a relaxing scented candle
- Make your favourite meal
- Do a one-hour digital detox
- Meet or call a friend for a catch up
Reflexology is also a great way of switching off from the world and taking some self care – why not book a session and experience the deep relaxation it brings.
